Imagined Lines @ Light House, Wolverhampton

Imagined Lines by Matthew Hammond

October 3rd - November 7th 2008

Matthew Hammond’s exhibition is a selection of photographs from four bodies of work about the urban landscape and our association with it. This collection documents the disparate social areas of one city which could be reflected in any major city.

British Landscapes, the most recent body of work in the collection, features very specific cities and sites. Matthew chose these places because they are sites that are both harrowing and banal at the same time. They are of locations such as Cromwell Street, Hillsborough and Pont de L’Alma underpass in Paris - harrowing because of the events that once took place there, but banal because they are also merely everyday locations.
